Behind the Scenes at VG Studios: The Reality of a Professional Shoot
Professional photography is not just a single shutter click. It is a precise team effort involving lighting, styling, and directing. Here is how we build a visual story in my studio.

In this clip, I demonstrate how to achieve professional beauty headshots using a simple two-light setup. This shows both my process and my passion for teaching photography.
About Behind The Scenes
People often think a great shot comes down to the camera model, but watch the clips above. You will see my team setting up the beauty dish to shape light and me directing the model's movement in real-time. My process is always about controlling the environment. Whether we are shooting a commercial campaign or a portfolio, I use live tethering so you can see the results on a monitor as we shoot, ensuring we get the perfect frame before the lights go off.
Photography, especially fashion and advertising, is a collaborative process. When you walk into my studio in Noida, you are not just getting a photographer; you are getting a production workflow.
Why the Process Matters
Many clients ask me why we spend so much time on lighting setups. The truth is, light is the only thing that separates a good photo from a standard one. As you can see in the BTS clips, I am very specific about where the beauty dish is placed or how the snoot interacts with the subject. This attention to detail is how I achieve that magazine-quality skin texture without relying on heavy post-production tricks.
My Approach to Production
- Live Tethering: We don't guess. We connect the camera to a monitor so you see the shot exactly as it happens. This way, we fix the styling, hair, or pose before moving to the next frame.
- Team Effort: A shoot is a machine. From the makeup artist ensuring the skin tone is right to the stylist fixing the drape of a garment, every person on my set has a job. I manage the creative direction, so you don't have to juggle vendors.
- Technical Basics: I don't believe in secret sauce. Whether it's a two-light setup for a headshot or a full-day commercial campaign, I use consistent technical specs—like the Nikon Z9 and Profoto or Elinchrom lighting—to guarantee that the final image is sharp, high-resolution, and print-ready.
If you are coming to my studio, come prepared to work. We are here to create solid images that sell, not just to play around with gear.
Vipin Gaur
I have spent 16 years with a camera in my hand, and I have learned that a killer image is 10% gear and 90% vision. I do not believe in hiding the process. I share how my team and I work because I want you to know exactly what you are paying for when we step onto a set together.
