Featured Wildlife Moments from India's Wilds
These are my most cherished encounters from years of wandering through our national parks. From the quiet mist of Corbett to the pink shores of Mumbai, every frame holds a story of animal behaviour and our deep connection to nature.
A truly blessed moment from my life after retirement, witnessing a tigress and her five cubs quenching their thirst at a waterhole in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. A sight like this, a full family together, is the rare reward the jungle offers to the patient observer.
Many are surprised to learn that a city like Mumbai holds such a natural spectacle. Join me on a quiet boat ride in the Bhandup wetlands to see thousands of flamingos paint the water pink, a hidden paradise right in the city's backyard.
A magnificent tigress, daughter of the famous Paro of Corbett, confidently crosses the Ramganga river. This photograph, taken by my daughter-in-law Radhika on a family trip, shows the bold spirit of the tigers in this legendary park.
The Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros at Kaziranga National Park, a symbol of India's greatest conservation success. From just a dozen in the early 1900s to over 2600 today, their story is one of hope and resilience that we explore on our Assam tours.
A lone Sambar deer appears through the morning mist in Corbett, reminding me of the golden deer from our epic, the Ramayana. The jungle often creates these magical, almost divine moments during the golden hours of sunrise.
This is a glimpse of the adventure that awaits you on one of our safaris. Feel the thrill of tracking majestic elephants, spotting tigers in their habitat, and discovering the diverse creatures that call the Indian wilderness their home.
The Sarus Cranes, our state bird in Uttar Pradesh, are known to mate for life. Here, a pair performs their beautiful duet, a trumpeting call that echoes across the wetlands of Keoladeo National Park, a symbol of their lifelong bond.
About Featured
Many people see these animals and just click. I wait, watch, and document their behaviour.. whether it is a tigress quenching her thirst in Tadoba or the courtship dance of Sarus Cranes in Keoladeo. When you join my safaris, we go beyond mere sightseeing; we learn to read the jungle’s signs, like pugmarks and alarm calls, so you can truly understand the life you are photographing.
Photography is not just about the final image; it is about the patience required to be in the right place at the right time. When I look at these frames, I remember the mornings in Corbett when the mist lifted off the Ramganga river, or the quiet patience required to capture the rhinoceros in Kaziranga. My approach is rooted in observation. I teach my guests how to respect the habitat, use natural light, and interpret animal behaviour.
Whether we are tracking tigers in the dry deciduous forests of Tadoba or observing birdlife in the wetlands of Greater Noida, the goal is always the same: to witness the wild in its purest form. We do not chase sightings; we let the jungle reveal itself to us. My mentorship sessions, whether in the field or in the evening review meetings, focus on storytelling through your lens. We discuss composition, ethical approaches, and how to find the 'character' in every animal.
If you are looking for a quick tourist trip, there are many providers. If you want to understand the rhythm of the wild, learn the art of wildlife photography, and perhaps see how our nature is intertwined with our own cultural roots, I invite you to join me on an expedition. Let us explore these forests together and bring back more than just memory cards full of photos. Shubh Yatra to all nature lovers.
