About Our Story & Craftsmanship
When we say handmade, we mean it. Every piece starts with a personal consultation where we discuss fabric comfort and design, ensuring your son’s outfit is free of scratchy seams or stiff linings. We know that if it isn't comfortable, he won't wear it, which is why we test every detail for a kid-approved fit before it leaves our workshop.
My son, Agastya, was the inspiration for everything you see here. When I couldn't find anything for his fifth birthday that wasn't just basic, I realized there was a massive gap for boys who wanted to look sharp but still feel like kids. That is exactly why Vern Kids exists. We are not just selling clothes; we are making sure boys get the same design attention that has traditionally been reserved for girls.
Our process always begins with a conversation. Whether you visit our Santacruz store or connect online, we talk about the occasion—a wedding, a milestone birthday, or a festive event—and tailor the design to his specific personality. We use soft, hypoallergenic fabrics like Cupro and high-thread-count cottons because, as a mom, I know that 'itchy' is the number one reason an outfit stays in the closet.
Each jacket, tuxedo, or shacket goes through a meticulous cycle of sketching, hand-cutting, and tailoring. We fuse structural elements into our formal suits so they hold their shape without being stiff, and we always leave room for growth so he can wear his favorite pieces a little longer. It is all about creating that 'main character' moment for him, without ever compromising on the comfort he needs to run, play, and just be a boy.
