Behind the Scenes of My Bangalore Art Studio

Welcome to my home and workspace in Bengaluru. Here, every canvas is painted by my hand, from the first sketch to the final varnish, with no middlemen in between.

In my studio, working on 'The Uprising', a 5x3 feet abstract. This is where the magic happens, surrounded by paints, canvases, and inspiration.

The delivery process for the massive Kamakhya Temple painting. We take great care in transporting even the largest canvases, and we reuse packing materials to ensure nothing goes to the landfill.

A close-up of a work in progress, showing the thick, impasto style I developed about eight years ago. It's all about building texture and emotion with the paint itself.

A collage showing different stages of work on 'The Uprising'. You can see me applying layers of paint with a palette knife to build up the fiery texture.

Another shot from the studio, applying spray to the canvas to manipulate the acrylic paint for 'The Uprising'. I'm always experimenting with new techniques.

A different angle of me working in the studio. You can see other completed and in-progress works in the background, giving a sense of the creative environment.

An unfinished portrait, showing the initial layers of color being blocked in. This is how it all starts, with bold strokes and a clear vision.

About this collection

When you commission a piece, you aren't just ordering a product; you are getting a front-row seat to the creative process. I send weekly progress updates, and I invite you to my studio so you know exactly what is happening on your canvas. Whether it is a 9x12 foot project or a smaller portrait, I handle the execution personally—right down to the sustainable packing that ensures your painting arrives safely at your door.

At Verde Canvas, the process is simple: it is just you and me. I do not use assistants to paint your vision or agents to handle the logistics. When you commission a piece, you are effectively entering my home. Located in Krishnarajapuram, our 7000 sq ft gallery is where I work on everything from intimate portraits to massive 9x12 foot cityscapes.

Because I paint using a heavy-texture, impasto technique—a style I have honed over the last eight years—every canvas has a physical depth that does not show up in a standard flat print. You can see the actual marks of the palette knife in the work. When we start a project, I provide a digital mockup so you can see how the colors sit on your specific wall before I even pick up a brush.

We take delivery as seriously as the art itself. I have a strict no-landfill policy for packaging. We reuse the bubble wrap and protective materials from our blank canvas suppliers to ship your finished piece. It is a closed-loop cycle, and it ensures your painting arrives in perfect condition, whether you are in Bengaluru or across the country. If you want to see how this comes together, you are always welcome to drop by for a coffee and watch the work in progress.

I am Abhishek. My studio at Verde Canvas is home for Nimisha and me, and we treat every canvas like it is going on our own wall. We do not do mass production; we do art that is meant to stay with you for generations, painted right here in Bengaluru with plenty of coffee breaks.
