Behind every performance, there is a lot of unglamorous work. Whether it is sound-checking in an empty venue or debating setlists with my guitarist, the work happens long before the audience arrives. I treat my rehearsals with the same respect as a sold-out concert because that is where the magic—and the occasional chaos—gets sorted.
Being a first-generation indie artist in Mumbai is a rollercoaster. There is no one to tell you which path to take, so you end up being your own manager, stylist, and sound engineer. When you book a performance with me, you are not just getting a vocalist; you are getting a team that has sweat through the details in the jam room.
The Practical Side
I am a total stickler for tech riders. We might laugh and joke during rehearsals, but when it comes to the actual sound quality, we are serious. My team uses in-ear monitors and specific gear because we know that a great performance relies on hearing yourself clearly. If you are hiring me for a wedding or a corporate event, I bring that same standard of professionalism. I ensure the sound check is done 60 minutes before the show so we avoid any last-minute stress.
The Mental Hustle
Social media shows the finished song, but it does not show the 3:00 AM revisions or the self-doubt that creeps in before a big set. Writing Hindi R&B means I have to dig deep into my own experiences—like my lockdown journey—and translate that into something you can feel at your event. It is a grind, but it is my favorite part of the process. I share this because I want you to know that when I stand on stage, I am fully invested in the music because I have built it from the ground up.
