How We Create These Portraits

In my studio, I set up specific lighting that mimics natural shadows, giving the portraits a painterly, moody feel. Whether it is a maternity shoot where we emphasize the curves and the glow, or a family portrait where we highlight the laughter, the process is intentional.

We usually start with a few classic, high-contrast portraits to get everyone comfortable. If you are worried about what to wear, black and white is very forgiving. Simple, texture-rich fabrics like linen or knits work beautifully here. You do not need a lot of props—just the people you love and a willingness to be present in the moment.
