A Glimpse into Our Montessori Daily Routine
Step inside our home-style classroom where curiosity leads the way. From practical life lessons to outdoor play, see how we create space for every child to find their own rhythm.
Our outdoor path with a painted hopscotch ladder. I believe in integrating play and movement into every part of our environment to keep children active and engaged.
A view of our safe and inviting outdoor play area, complete with a slide and soft turf. This space is perfect for developing gross motor skills and enjoying the fresh air.
Children taking care of our plants. As part of our World Environment Day activities, and throughout the year, I teach them the importance of nurturing nature and caring for living things.
Learning to keep our surroundings clean is a fundamental Montessori practical life lesson. Here, children practice sweeping, taking responsibility for their classroom environment.
A selection of books we read for World Environment Day. Storytelling is a powerful tool I use to teach children about important topics like conservation and caring for our planet.
Our "My Favourite Trip" board, where children shared photos and stories from their family travels. This activity helps develop language skills and allows children to share a piece of their world with their friends.
A child excitedly shares photos from her trip, including an elephant ride. These show-and-tell sessions build confidence and public speaking skills.
About this collection
In our classrooms, you won't find rows of desks. Instead, you'll see children actively caring for their space—sweeping floors, tending to plants, and organizing their own learning materials. This isn't just about chores, but about building focus, coordination, and a genuine sense of belonging within our community.
Our Montessori Environment
We believe a child’s environment is their third teacher. At Tiny Mustards, we have moved away from the sterile look of traditional preschools. Our space is a converted house in OMBR Layout, designed to feel like an extension of your own home. The rooms are filled with natural light, child-sized furniture, and open areas that allow for both focused work and spontaneous movement.
Practical Life and Independence
Our daily routine is built on 'Practical Life' exercises. When a child learns to pour their own water, sweep a spill, or button their shirt, they are developing more than just motor skills. They are learning that they are capable of taking care of themselves and their community. You will often find our students watering the plants in our garden or organizing their books, taking real pride in their contributions to the school.
Connecting with Nature
We prioritize outdoor time, regardless of the season. Whether it is a hopscotch game on our path or observing the plants we've grown, we want children to see themselves as part of the wider world. We don't just talk about nature; we interact with it daily. From our World Environment Day activities to daily gardening, we encourage kids to get their hands dirty and respect the living things around them.
The Role of Community
We view our parents, teachers, and children as a single, supportive family. This cluster showcases those small moments—a child sharing a story from a family trip during 'show-and-tell', or peers working together on a craft project. These interactions build the confidence and empathy that stay with children long after they leave us.
Tiny Mustards
We are a team of educators who believe childhood is defined by curiosity, not rigid rules. Every corner of our home is set up for kids to explore safely, helping them find their own rhythm in a space that truly feels like family.
