About Specialized Craft Workshops
The secret here isn't just the final piece you walk away with—it's the two days of focus and grit in between. When you sign up for our silversmithing or whittling sessions, you aren't just watching a demo. You are melting silver, handling Japanese saws, and learning to read wood grain alongside our lead makers who ensure your final project looks retail-quality, not like a first-timer's experiment.
Why We Do It
We started these workshops because we saw that the joy of making was disappearing. It is not just about the final object; it is about the 'happy buzz' you get when you realize you can bend metal or shape timber with your own hands. We don't care if you've never held a tool before or if you're already a regular at the local hardware store. This is your space to make mistakes safely, learn the physics of materials, and actually finish something.
What You Can Expect
Our specialized craft sessions are designed to be intensive yet accessible:
- Silversmithing: Over two days, you will learn to melt fine silver to create your own sterling silver sheets and wire. We move through sawing, texturing, and soldering techniques. You’ll leave with your own custom-made jewelry—think rings, pendants, or earrings—created from a 5+ gram silver kit we provide.
- Wood Whittling: We focus on organic artifacts using Burmese Teak. This is a deep dive into hand tools. You’ll learn how to approach the wood, cut, carve, and finish your pieces. Day one usually involves a simpler output, and by day two, you are working on something more sculptural and intricate.
The Maker Philosophy
We avoid the fluff. There are no PowerPoints and no passive learning. Everything happens on our workshop floor in Horamavu. We provide the safety gear, the high-quality materials, and the mentorship ratio needed to ensure you're actually learning the craft, not just 'helping' a professional do the work for you. If you’re looking to master a skill, spend a weekend differently, or simply reconnect with your creative side, come by and make something.
