Our Story & Collaborations
36 years of designing celebrations, from humble sketches to international covers. Meet the people and partnerships behind the work.
36 years of The Wedding Design Company. We asked our team what this journey means to them. Their unrehearsed reactions are a testament to the passion, hard work, and countless cups of coffee that have fueled our legacy.
We are thrilled to be featured on the cover of Condé Nast Traveller's Destination Wedding Guide 2025. We styled the decor for this stunning shoot with Bhumi Pednekar in Udaipur, helping to bring a modern bridal vision to life.
A breathtaking shot from our collaboration with Condé Nast Traveller. We styled this shot of Bhumi Pednekar at The Oberoi Udaivilas, using minimal decor to let the magnificent architecture and the mood of the look shine.
Another moment from the Condé Nast Traveller shoot. We styled this vintage jeep with clouds of baby's breath for a playful and chic baraat entry shot, showcasing a modern take on wedding traditions.
About this collection
I still start every wedding concept with a pencil and paper, a habit from 36 years ago that hasn't changed despite the tech we use today. It is that old-school grounding that helps us navigate everything from sudden venue challenges to high-pressure editorial shoots, keeping our team focused on the craft rather than just the chaos.
From floppy disks to AI, we have seen it all. Our journey started three decades ago, not in a boardroom, but at a desk with a sketchpad. That simplicity remains our backbone even when we are managing massive production crews of 300-plus people for destination weddings.
The Method Behind The Madness
People often ask how we handle the pressure of events ranging from intimate ceremonies to full-scale venue construction. The answer is simple: we do not rely on templates. Every project is approached with the same curiosity we had in our first year. We handle the end-to-end management, from scouting the location to ensuring the floral installations are fresh, but the real work happens in the planning. We treat every detail, from the napkin folds to the lighting cues, as a piece of the couple's personal story.
Collaborations & Editorial Work
We are often asked to bring our design lens to other platforms, including our recent feature in the Condé Nast Traveller Destination Wedding Guide. These collaborations are not just about making things look pretty. They are opportunities to test new ideas—like styling a vintage jeep with baby's breath or finding the perfect minimal accent for a palace backdrop—which we then bring back to your wedding. Whether it is a feature shoot with a celebrity or a quiet ceremony in a city square, the goal is always the same: authenticity.
We do not believe in using animals as props, we do not want your Sangeet to drag on for hours, and we definitely think you should have both the mithais and the chocolates. If you want a team that knows the value of experience but still gets excited about a new idea, we are likely a good fit.
The Wedding Design Company
We are Vandana Mohan and her team, a group of people who thrive on turning creative chaos into reality. We believe that a wedding is not a production, but a story told through handmade details, and we are here to help you write yours.
