I'm Ankur, the founder of Therpup. This whole journey started from a simple love for dogs. After visiting a dog cafe in Korea, I knew I had to create something similar in Bangalore. We started with a mission to provide a safe haven for rescued dogs and a happy place for all pet lovers, and it's been an amazing ride.
About Our Story: The 'Why' Behind Therpup
We didn't just open a cafe; we started with a mission to change how Bengaluru sees street dogs. Every dog you see lounging at our Whitefield or Sarjapur locations is a rescue who finally found a home. We built this space because we were tired of pet-friendly places that only tolerated dogs, rather than celebrating them.
From an IT Job to a Pet Paradise
When our founder, Ankur, walked away from a typical IT career, he had a single goal: creating a space that actually welcomed dogs, inspired by the 'Bau House' concept he saw in Korea. He didn't want another place where pets were just 'allowed'; he wanted a place where they were the VIPs.
Why We Prioritize Rescues
Therpup was built on the back of our commitment to indies. We believe that 'awara' is a label humans invented, not a definition of a dog’s worth. Every in-house dog at our cafes is a rescue that became part of our family. This is why we are so vocal about animal rights—we didn't just rescue them; they rescued us. When you visit us, you aren't just coming to a cafe; you’re supporting a community that actively works to give these dogs a life of dignity.
Growing with You
What started as a small, cozy cafe in Whitefield quickly evolved because our pet parents asked for more. You needed a safe place for your dogs to stay while you traveled, a place where they could get groomed, and a place where they could swim. So, we listened. We expanded into Sarjapur, creating a full-fledged dog resort with wooden cottages, king-size beds, and massive play areas. Whether it's daycare, overnight boarding, or just a weekend splash in our pool, we ensure that every service—from grooming to training—is handled with the same care we give our own pack.
