As part of Indie Month, we host educational events like this online class on the 4,000-year history of our Indies. We bring in experts to discuss their origins, behavior, and the importance of understanding our shared history.
This event was created for community dog caretakers. We hosted a veteran dog behaviourist to discuss welfare standards, conflict management, and feeding laws to empower the people who are on the front lines of animal welfare.
About The Incredible Indie Month
This isn't just an event series; it is a movement to rewrite the Indie story. During this month, we host expert-led workshops—from the 4,000-year history of our native dogs to practical, legal guidelines for community caregivers—where every rupee of profit is donated directly to the Bangalore Distemper Rehabilitation Centre. You are not just attending a session; you are funding life-saving care for dogs who need us most.
Why We Do This
For too long, Indian street dogs have been viewed as a problem to be solved rather than companions to be cherished. We started Incredible Indie Month to shift that narrative. Whether you are a long-time pet parent or a community dog feeder, this month is designed to equip you with facts, foster empathy, and build a stronger network.
What To Expect
- Expert-Led Learning: We bring in behaviorists like Raj Mariwala to teach the 'unfiltered truth' about our dogs. Learn the difference between landrace and breed, understand the history of our Indies, and get practical training on conflict resolution.
- Caregiver Support: We host sessions specifically for those on the front lines. If you feed or care for community dogs, we cover feeding laws, welfare standards, and best practices for co-existence.
- Advocacy & Awareness: Through online catchups and in-person meetups, we discuss the scientific methods of population management and how to handle community friction with compassion.
The Impact
Transparency is key to our work. We do not just talk about change; we fund it. All profits from every workshop, ticket, and piece of Indie-themed merchandise sold during this month go directly to supporting the Bangalore Distemper Rehabilitation Centre. By joining us, you are helping to treat community dogs suffering from canine distemper and supporting the NGOs working to give them a second chance.
