Behind the Decks: How Musicmonk Shapes the Vibe
It is not just about dropping tracks. I am constantly reading the room, tweaking the mix, and building that specific Monkstyle energy you only feel when the bass hits right.
Deep in concentration, surrounded by fiery visuals. This is me in the 'kitchen', cooking up a set with layers of Bollytech, Trap, and Dubstep.
A shot of me mixing on the Pioneer decks at Flo. I'm constantly tweaking the EQs and effects to shape the sound and build tension and release.

At the console during a Dandiya festival. Even with large-scale events, the focus remains on the details of the mix, blending traditional sounds with modern beats.

About Behind the Decks: In The Zone
It is not just about standing behind the console. I spend my sets watching how you respond, adjusting the Bollytech and Trap transitions in real time, and using the Pioneer mixer to build tension before the drop. When I am in the zone, I am not just playing music, I am having a conversation with the dance floor.
The Monkstyle Approach
When I am behind the decks, my focus is entirely on the energy shift. People often think DJing is just hitting play, but it is really about reading the room. Whether I am at my residency at FLO Church Street or headlining a festival set for 15,000 people, the goal is always the same: keep the dance floor moving.
My Process
I treat every gig like a journey. I start by sensing the crowd's pulse. Are they ready for heavy Bass, or do they want to groove to some Bollywood bangers? My setup, usually a Pioneer CDJ 2000NXS2 or 3000, is my instrument. I layer tracks, mix in Bollytech elements, and use MCing to keep the vibe high. If the energy dips, I don't hide—I jump on the mic, engage, and reset the mood.
Collaboration and Flow
I love a good B2B set. Sharing the console with friends like Vinay Music brings a fresh, unpredictable flow to the night. We feed off each other, swapping genres and surprising the crowd. That is the magic of being 'in the zone'—it is less about perfection and more about that raw, electric connection. Zindagi ek safar hai suhana, so we might as well make it a great party while we are at it.
Musicmonk
I am Harshith, known as Musicmonk. I do not believe in perfect mixes; I believe in perfect moments where the energy and the crowd sync up. If you want to lose yourself in the music, we will get along just fine.
