Fun with Numbers for Kindergarten Readiness
We turn math from a boring subject into a hands-on adventure. Through games like Mushroom Math and Flower Clocks, your child will build early number skills without the stress of rote learning.
This is our 'Mushroom Math Mania' activity in action. Here, we're using a fun, hands-on craft to learn basic addition. By making math visual and playful, children grasp concepts like counting and finding the sum much more easily.
Our 'Flower Clock' activity is a favorite for learning number recognition. Children match the number of dots to the correct number on the clock, turning number practice into a fun puzzle. This hands-on math game helps solidify counting skills.
For children who find learning numbers tricky, I use games like these 'Number Cones'. We use them for recognition, where the child finds the number I call out, and for learning sequences by arranging them in the correct order.
About Fun with Numbers
In my sessions, we do not just stare at worksheets. Take our 'Mushroom Math' activity, for example. We use tactile props to perform addition, which helps your child physically see how numbers come together. By making the math visual and playful, we help them understand the 'why' behind addition, rather than just memorizing the sum.
Moving Beyond Rote Learning
Many parents worry that math becomes a chore too early. I focus on removing that anxiety by grounding lessons in play. Whether we are using our 'Flower Clock' to practice counting or arranging 'Number Cones' to master sequences, every activity is designed to make numbers feel like a friend, not a hurdle.
My Teaching Approach
- Visual & Tactile: We use magnetic letters, physical 3D shapes, and daily crafts to make concepts like addition and sequencing concrete. If a child understands how to build a number with their hands, they will not struggle to write it on paper.
- Reggio Emilia Inspired: I follow a child-led approach. If your child is interested in animals, we use animal toys to count. We do not force a rigid curriculum; we adapt to what clicks for them.
- Conceptual Clarity: Instead of just memorizing 1 to 20, we focus on what those numbers represent. We play games that require number recognition and quick thinking, building the mental agility required for big school.
Class Format
We offer both online and in-center sessions in Paschim Vihar. In our online classes, I provide printable PDF worksheets so your child gets that hands-on experience at home. Our in-center classes provide a social environment where kids learn through direct peer interaction and physical manipulatives.
