About Global Groovers: International Tours & Performances
Transitioning from studio rehearsals to international stages is a massive jump. It is not just about getting the steps right anymore. When we perform abroad, we manage new acoustic environments, complex lighting rigs, and the adrenaline rush of representing Indian culture for a foreign audience. It is the ultimate test of our training, and it is where my dancers truly find their professional voice.
My journey with The Backyard Groovers has always been about creating a lab where dancers can experiment and eventually perform. Whether it is our annual ABUNDANCE showcase or a tour across Estonia, the process remains the same. We focus on rigorous technical foundations in our Sushant Lok and Palam Vihar studios. We work on Ballet for control, Hip-Hop for energy, and Jazz for stage presence. When the opportunity for an international performance arises, I select dancers from our professional program who have demonstrated the discipline and technical consistency required for high-pressure touring environments. It is hard work, involving daily rehearsals, intense choreography memorization, and meticulous blocking, but the reward is seeing our dancers grow into confident artists.
