Food, Cafe & Culinary Storytelling in Mumbai
I don't just photograph food; I capture the city's relationship with it. From the steam of a monsoon chai to the quiet corners of Bandra cafes, my work brings the taste of Mumbai to your feed.
It's the modak season! This mini-vlog captures the joy of eating ukdiche modak, a traditional sweet that is a blessing steamed in rice flour, jaggery, and coconut.
A collage from a cafe hopping adventure. It's a moodboarded cliché with personal flair, featuring coffee, cookies, and the facade of a Bandra cafe.
Here comes the red. This collage pairs the bold red of a scooter with abstract art and retro decor from a cafe, creating a visually striking composition.
A collage capturing the vibe of a weekend hangout. It mixes my outfit of the day with a candid shot of friends chilling at a cafe, telling a story of relaxed socializing.
By chance blues. This collage is a collection of blue moments from a day out, from the inside of an auto-rickshaw to a beautiful blueberry cheesecake.
The title card for my 'Cafe Hopping in Bandra' series. A selfie from an auto-rickshaw sets the tone for a clichéd but fun weekend plan, moodboarded with my instincts.
A collage of cozy moments. Chilling on a beanbag, a glass of matcha, and a shelf of vintage radios all contribute to a vibe of comfortable, creative living.
Chai at the Gateway. A classic Bombay scene of a chaiwala on his bicycle, serving tea to people against the backdrop of the city at night.
A collage capturing a monsoon night. Holding a cutting chai with the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in the background is a quintessential Bombay experience.
A vada pav with a view. Holding Mumbai's favorite street food in front of the beautifully lit CSMT station is a perfect blend of culinary and architectural heritage.
About Food, Cafes & Culinary Stories
My approach to food content is rarely about the perfectly plated, sterile dish. Instead, I use a maximalist style, stitching together the messy, beautiful reality of the experience—the half-eaten cookie, the street-side clutter, and the golden hour light—to tell a story that feels lived-in rather than staged.
When you look at the food culture in Mumbai, it is rarely neat. It is the rain-streaked window of a cafe in Pali Hill, the specific crunch of a vada pav near CSMT, or the way coffee rings leave a pattern on a wooden table. My work focuses on finding those layers.
I build culinary stories through what I call 'moodboarded reality'. If you are a brand or a cafe owner, you do not need just another high-res product shot that could have been taken anywhere. You need images that scream 'this is my space'.
My process for cafes usually starts with observation. I visit, I sit, I watch how the light hits the floorboards and how the staff interacts with the coffee machine. Whether I am shooting a stop-motion reel of a weekend brunch or creating a digital collage of your latest menu additions, I focus on the details that make people pause their scroll. I use my own voiceover to add that personal, non-robotic touch, ensuring your brand story sounds like a conversation between friends rather than an advertisement.
I am equally comfortable capturing the grit of street food as I am the aesthetics of an artisanal cafe. The technique changes—sometimes it is Nightography to capture the neon glow of a late-night stall, other times it is macro photography to highlight the steam rising off an ukdiche modak. My goal is always the same: to make the viewer feel like they are right there, holding the cup, or sitting at the table.
If you want content that feels grounded, authentic, and deeply connected to the Mumbai lifestyle, let's talk about the story your food is trying to tell.

I’m Ruchit, and I treat Mumbai’s culinary scene like a long, ongoing conversation. I don’t believe in sterile studio shots; I believe in capturing the warmth of a vada pav on a rainy night or the hum of a busy café because that is where the real flavor is.
