Vishwanath Mallabadi
My Story
Namaste everyone. I studied applied arts and worked in graphic design and UI/UX, including at Wipro. I learned electronics through ham radio. My father, D.M. Shambhu, was a painter and sculptor. I grew up in "that creative mess." My e-waste art began as a hobby around 2004. "Kabadi bazaar is my playground." Music and poetry are part of my life too. "I don't Recycle, I Reimagine."
My Work
Art and learning - I turn e-waste into public installations, sculptures, wall art and custom mementos. I also run workshops and talks.
Google Ananta - I created a large wall installation and the skyline sculpture "Future Cities: Built from Yesterday's Technology" for Google's Bengaluru campus.
Sanketana - I made the 25 ft long e-waste mural at Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway, with Brigade Group.
Eco-mementos - I made e-waste pieces for the World Environment Day celebration at Kanteerava Stadium on 3 July 2024.
Wearable art - I guide students in creating apparel and jewellery from e-waste, including workshops at UID, Pearl Academy and NIFT Kannur.
Disconnect to Reconnect - I use art to ask people to rethink their gadgets and connect with nature.
