Design Details: Arches, Textures & Traditional Accents
A home’s character lives in the details. From sweeping arches to tactile textures, we blend modern convenience with traditional Indian accents to design spaces that feel timeless, lived-in, and deeply personal.
The sthamba (pillar) in the 'Kaalam' foyer is a powerful statement, a piece of history that grounds the modern home in tradition. Paired with exposed brick, it creates an entryway that is rich with texture and story.
This serene pooja room is a perfect example of using arches to create a sacred and beautiful space. The custom Pichwai-inspired wallpaper with cows and lotuses is framed by a simple white marble arch, creating a divine focal point.
I used a metal and fluted glass partition with a bold arch to create a dramatic entryway into the living room. It separates the space while allowing light to pass through, offering a tantalizing glimpse of the colorful interior.
In my 'Kaalam' project, every corner tells a story. Here, a traditional bronze statue and a wooden swing with cane details are set against a backdrop of clean, modern wall molding. It’s a space that celebrates heritage with a contemporary spirit.
This image breaks down the layers of detail in a modern-traditional living room. A framed handloom textile, brass sconce, antique pedestal, and traditional bharani jar all come together to create a space that feels collected and authentic.
The journey into 'Olavu' begins here. A vintage-inspired partition sets a tone that is traditional in spirit but modern in presence. A serene, carved Buddha and a quiet console table come together to create a moment of stillness as you enter.
Adjacent to the staircase, I designed this puja room wall with CNC-cut partitions. The intricate geometric pattern adds a traditional touch to an otherwise modern space, and the bells inside add a sensory detail.
In this first-floor living area, I used patterned floor tiles to create a visual pathway leading to a traditional wooden swing. The tiles extend up the wall, creating a unique and artistic feature that blends modern and traditional styles.
Arches can soften a space and add a sense of fluidity. Here, I used them on a powder blue and cane wardrobe, creating a design that is both elegant and timeless. The arched mirror next to it continues the theme.
An arched mirror and a bay window seating nook with patterned wallpaper create a cozy and charming corner in this bedroom.
About The Art of Detail: Textures, Arches & Accents
We do not add arches just for the visual impact. We use them to soften rigid, boxy apartment layouts, creating natural flow between rooms. When we pair a fluted glass partition or a cane-detailed wardrobe with a clean, modern frame, it is not just about the look. It is about creating that lived-in warmth where a classic Indian silhouette meets modern functionality.
For us, a home is a storybook, not a showroom. This collection of details—arches, jali screens, and wooden rafters—is how we ground a space.
Why Arches and Accents Matter
Modern homes often suffer from being too linear and sterile. We introduce curves and arches to disrupt that sharpness, adding fluidity to your hallways, wardrobes, and entryways. These are not just aesthetic choices; they are structural interventions that change how you feel when you move through your home.
The Material Palette
We bring warmth into your space by mixing materials with intention:
- Traditional Elements: We incorporate Sthamba pillars or CNC-cut jali work to provide a sense of history and familiarity.
- Tactile Textures: From the roughness of exposed brick to the smoothness of PU-coated surfaces, we layer textures so the home feels alive and grounded.
- Natural Materials: Cane, wood, brass, and rattan are essential to our process. They age gracefully and bring a soft, organic quality that man-made laminates often lack.
Designing with Purpose
Every element has a reason. A foyer partition serves as a transition, allowing you a moment of stillness before entering the living area. A custom arched mirror in a bedroom is not just for reflection; it is a way to pull light into a corner. Whether we are reviving old furniture or designing a new dining storage unit, our goal is to ensure your home feels like an evolution of your own memories.
Tesor Designs
We are Supriya and Rajesh. Our studio is less of an office and more of a sketchbook where we prioritize the story behind the space. We believe your home should hold onto memories, not just furniture, which is why every project we take on gets a name and a distinct personality.
