Commercial Facade Design and Material Detailing
Your building's facade is its first impression. We combine materials like terracotta and steel to create screens that balance light, privacy, and architectural form.
The terracotta jali facade at the Om Marble project combines a traditional material with a contemporary, randomized pattern. This creates a unique identity for the building while providing practical benefits like shading and ventilation.
From the interior, the facade screen filters natural light, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow. This enhances the internal environment while maintaining a visual connection to the outdoors, demonstrating our focus on user experience.
This design diagram shows one portion of the custom pattern developed for the terracotta jali blocks. Our process involves meticulous planning of every detail to achieve a complex and visually rich result.
A second portion of the facade pattern, illustrating the planned variation in solid and perforated blocks. This careful arrangement creates a non-repetitive, organic texture across the building's exterior screen.
The third section of our facade block pattern, meticulously designed before fabrication. This level of detailed architectural drawing ensures a flawless execution on site and realizes our design intent perfectly.
About Facade Design & Material Detailing
For projects like the Om Marble showroom in Jigni, we used a custom terracotta jali screen. This wasn't just for the striking visual texture. By carefully calculating the ratio of perforated to solid blocks, we created a self-shading envelope that significantly reduces heat gain while allowing natural ventilation to flow through the workspace.
Engineering the Facade
A facade is more than the outward appearance of a building. It is a functional interface between your interior environment and the external climate. Our approach to facade design integrates architectural aesthetics with structural engineering to ensure the skin of your building performs as well as it looks.
Material Selection and Function
We frequently work with materials like terracotta jali blocks, glass, and industrial steel. Terracotta is particularly effective for commercial buildings in our climate because it provides natural thermal insulation. Our process involves creating parametric patterns that modulate light and shadow, ensuring that the interior spaces are well-lit without the glare and heat buildup typical of plain glass facades.
From Concept to Construction
- Conceptual Zoning: We analyze site orientation to understand sun paths and wind patterns.
- Design & Visualization: We develop detailed 3D models and renders to preview how the facade will interact with light throughout the day.
- Detailed Engineering: We create comprehensive Good for Construction (GFC) drawings, including structural detailing for MS frames and trusses, ensuring that the facade is not only beautiful but also safe and durable.
Our team handles the design coordination, ensuring that the final execution on-site matches our design intent. Whether you are building an industrial warehouse or a commercial showroom, we ensure your building stands out while remaining functional and cost-effective.
