My Approach to Tribal Art
Tribal and Polynesian tattoos are more than just patterns. They are about heritage, strength, and how the ink sits on your skin. After 15 years of tattooing in Dadar, I have learned that the secret to a great tribal piece is not just the ink—it is the placement.
I focus on using 'negative space' to let your skin breathe within the design. This creates contrast and ensures the tattoo looks bold rather than like a solid black block. Whether you want a full chest piece, a sleeve, or a calf band, my goal is to make the design move with you.
The Process
- Consultation: We sit down first to talk about what the design means to you. Polynesian art is rich in symbolism, and I want to get that right.
- Freehand Mapping: I draw the lines on your body with markers to see how they wrap around your muscles. We adjust this until it looks natural.
- Execution: I use magnum needles to pack solid black ink consistently. Tribal work requires patience, and we usually split this into two long sessions to ensure the black is deep and the skin has time to heal properly.
