Capturing Traditional Wedding Rituals and Details
A wedding is more than the main ceremony. It is the sacred flame of a diya, the texture of your silk saree, and the traditional delicacies that bring your family together.
The warm glow of a diya held in hands adorned with mehendi. This shot was from a Diwali shoot, but it represents the kind of detailed, atmospheric photos I love to take. These small elements are a big part of our festive and wedding traditions.
Food is a huge part of any celebration. This shot of Kombdi Vade, a delicacy often served at weddings and festivals in my region of Raigad, helps to tell a more complete story of the event. It’s these cultural details that make each wedding unique.
About Details & Traditions
When I am documenting a wedding, I am always looking for the quiet moments between the chaos. Whether it is the precise way the mundavalya are tied or the steam rising from a bowl of Kombdi Vade, these small details hold the memory of your day more vividly than any posed group photo.
Maharashtrian weddings are deeply layered with meaning, and my goal is to document that depth. I do not just photograph the stage; I focus on the elements that tell your specific family story. From the Antarpat (the silk cloth separating the couple) to the specific jewelry handed down through generations, these visual cues root your album in your heritage.
I spend time capturing the atmosphere—the marigold garlands, the intricate patterns of the mehendi, and the traditional food spreads that guests enjoy. It is about creating a visual diary that makes you feel the warmth of the day even years later. I am based in Navi Mumbai and Raigad, but I love traveling to document these traditions wherever they take place. If you are looking for someone who understands why these rituals matter, let’s talk about your day.
