About Keyboard & Vocal Performances
I use the keyboard to build an intimate soundscape that supports the story of the lyrics. Unlike high-energy backing tracks, these arrangements are stripped back to ensure the focus remains on the emotive quality of the vocals and the specific meaning behind the Kannada verses.
When I choose the keyboard for a performance, it is because I want the audience to hear the nuance in the melody. Whether it is a classic track like 'Tunthuru' or one of my own original compositions, the piano and keyboard allow me to add layers of harmony that guitar alone sometimes cannot capture.
My Approach to Live Performance
- Emotional Alignment: I customize the arrangement based on the 'Rasa' (emotion) of the song. A romantic track needs space for the melody to breathe, while an uplifting song might use more rhythmic chord progressions.
- Language & Genre: My focus is primarily on Kannada independent music and Bhavageethe, but I am comfortable shifting into Hindi ballads or acoustic pop if that fits your event or project.
- Dynamic Presence: Having a live musician provides a dynamic edge that recorded tracks lack. I can adjust the tempo, emphasize certain lyrics, or pause for impact based on the energy in the room.
