The Artisan's Touch: Our Stone Carving Process
Go behind the scenes at our Makrana workshop. Witness how our murtikars transform raw blocks of marble and granite into timeless, hand-carved masterpieces ready for your home.
The process begins. An artisan uses a power tool to do the initial shaping of a stone pillar for a birdbath fountain. This is where the raw stone starts to take form.
Here, the artisan is refining the curves on the pillar for a stone birdbath fountain. This detailed work is all done by hand.
How do I handle such huge blocks of stone? It takes some physics and a lot of passion. This video shows the initial cuts being made on a massive granite block for a large fountain.
An artisan is polishing the inside of a 21-inch granite uruli birdbath. This finishing process ensures a smooth surface and brings out the stone's natural luster.
Waterproofing is a crucial step. Here, a special sealant is being applied to a medium-sized modern stone fountain to ensure it is completely leak-proof before being packed for a client in Lucknow.

Another view of the waterproofing application. I take this step very seriously to guarantee the quality and durability of every fountain I sell.
This video shows the waterproofing in progress on a 3-foot, 70 kg stone fountain before it's packaged. This protective layer is essential for the fountain's long life.

About The Artisan's Touch: From Stone to Masterpiece
A critical step often overlooked in mass production is the specialized waterproofing we apply to every piece. Before any stone birdbath or fountain leaves our Makrana studio, we treat it with a high-grade protective sealant. This process ensures the longevity of the stone and prevents leaks, whether you are placing the piece in a dry balcony or a humid garden.
From Raw Block to Finished Art
Our process begins long before the final polish. We source premium Rainbow Sandstone and solid Granite blocks, selecting them for their natural patterns and durability. Every piece is then hand-carved by our team of skilled murtikars. We do not use molds or resin; instead, we rely on the traditional knowledge passed down through generations to shape the stone.
Why the Process Matters
We know that stone, while sturdy, requires careful handling. When we create a 700kg granite waterfall or a delicate tabletop fountain, we focus on the physics of the design to ensure stability and proper water flow. Each unit features a pre-fitted, low-power submersible pump, designed for a recirculating system that eliminates the need for external plumbing or civil work. You simply place, fill, and plug it in.
Safe Delivery, Guaranteed
Shipping large, heavy stone pieces is a logistical challenge we take seriously. We construct export-standard wooden crates, lining them with 1-inch thick foam to absorb impact. By the time a piece is wrapped and crated, it is effectively cocooned. This ensures that whether your order is headed to a local residence in Lucknow or an international address, it arrives at your doorstep in the same condition it left our workshop.
