About The Art of Styling & Set Design

It is not just about the gown. In my Vasant Kunj studio, I focus on balancing textures like lace and soft florals to frame the belly perfectly. You will notice how even simple props, like scattered petals or macrame backdrops, completely shift the mood from bohemian to high-fashion glamour. Styling is really about directing the focus, and I love showing my students how to achieve this look with minimal setup.

Creating these sets is soo much fun! Whether you are a fellow photographer looking to level up your maternity photoshoot game or an expectant mother planning your own session, the details make all the difference. When I am styling, I think about the story we are telling.

My Approach to Set Design

  • Texture & Layering: I love mixing soft lace, raw macrame, and smooth fabrics. It adds depth to the frame. If we are doing a boho-chic vibe, I keep it earthy with indoor plants and soft lighting. For a high-fashion look, we lean into dramatic, ruffled gowns and clean backgrounds.
  • Floral Elements: You will see a lot of flowers in my work! I use them to create foreground depth, which helps frame the Mamma and her bump. It creates that dreamy, Pinterest-worthy aesthetic that feels so romantic.
  • Lighting Logic: This is where the magic happens. I teach my students how to switch between high-key setups for that airy, bright look, and low-key lighting for moody, emotional portraits. It is all about how you position the light to flatter the curves.

Why I Mentor

I started my workshops in Vasant Kunj because I wanted to share the practical side of photography lighting and posing. No fluffy advice here. We practice with real models, test different props, and I show you my full editing workflow—including the personal actions I use to get those creamy skin tones. If you want to learn how to create work that feels real and stands out, I would love to have you in the studio. Let’s create something beautiful together! ✨
