About Kids Portraits: Playful & Authentic
These shoots happen exclusively outdoors, at parks or riverbanks, because kids are happiest when they have space to run around. We skip the studio lights for natural sunlight, which means we work around the day’s best weather. If your child is shy, we take the first 30 minutes just to play so they get comfortable with my camera before we start clicking.
When you book a session with me, we are not looking for the perfect, stiff portrait. We are looking for the 'Pahadi' soul in your child. Since I shoot entirely outdoors across Himachal, your family gets the benefit of natural scenery like pine forests, riverbanks, and open lawns rather than a flat, artificial studio background.
Why Outdoors?
Kids have unlimited energy. Asking them to sit still is often the fastest way to get a fake smile. When we shoot in a park or an open field, they can run, jump, and play. I bring a high-speed sync flash setup to handle harsh sunlight, which gives us that professional blurred background without needing a studio.
What to Expect
During the session, I don't just take stills. I also capture short 4K video clips if you want to remember their little movements and giggles. My package includes a mix of raw JPEGs and professionally retouched high-resolution images. You are free to bring multiple outfit changes, and I encourage you to pack items that are comfortable for your child to move in.
Preparing for the Shoot
- Timing: We aim for morning or late afternoon light when the sun is gentle.
- Clothing: Keep it simple. Natural fabrics and colors that complement the mountains work best.
- Comfort: Since we are outdoors, bring water, snacks, and any favorite toy to keep them happy.
If the weather in the mountains gets unpredictable, we stay in touch and reschedule to ensure we get that clear, beautiful light.
