Published Wildlife Photography & Conservation Features
My photography is a dialogue between the wild and our conscience. These published features and media highlights represent not just my work, but the urgent stories of the wetlands and forests I strive to protect.
Being featured in Sanctuary Asia was a full-circle moment for me. This magazine inspired me as a young boy, and to see my photo story on the Navi Mumbai flamingos within its pages was an honor. In this video, I share my journey and the hope that these images will inspire more people.
A snapshot of my feature in the Mid-Day newspaper, which covered the annual arrival of flamingos in Navi Mumbai. Media coverage like this is crucial for bringing the story of these wetlands to a wider audience and building public support for their protection.
This high-key, minimalist photograph of the T.S. Chanakya lake was featured in the Mangrove Photography Awards. It portrays the serene, almost glassy surface of the water, a fragile peace that is threatened by plans to convert this vital wetland into commercial properties.
I was privileged to speak at the India Civic Summit and present my film "Chalo Chanakya." This video includes clips from the citizen protests and my speaker announcement, showing how my filmmaking directly supports on-the-ground environmental movements.
About this collection
Seeing my Navi Mumbai flamingo series featured in Sanctuary Asia was not just a personal milestone; it was a validation for the wetlands themselves. When these images appear in print or at public summits, they act as a megaphone for the voiceless, turning my quiet hours of observation into a public conversation about what we are at risk of losing.
Photography as Advocacy
For me, photography and filmmaking are never just about the aesthetic appeal of a subject. Whether it is a tiger in the forests or a flamingo in the mudflats of Navi Mumbai, every frame is an attempt to record a reality that is quickly disappearing. My work with Sanctuary Asia and features in Mid-Day have provided a platform to bring these realities to a wider audience.
The Power of Publication
When an image is published, it stops being my personal meditation and becomes a shared public concern. Being recognized at the Mangrove Photography Awards or speaking at the India Civic Summit about the Chalo Chanakya movement allowed me to bridge the gap between art and environmental action. It transforms the act of clicking a shutter into a tool for:
- Awareness: Showing people the breathtaking biodiversity in our own backyards.
- Action: Providing visual evidence for citizen-led protests against wetland destruction.
- Education: Teaching others to look beyond the surface and see the energy and the struggle in nature.
Why This Matters
Every publication, every interview, and every documentary screening serves one purpose: to shift the narrative from 'development at any cost' to 'conscious co-existence.' If my images can make a reader in a city pause, reflect, and ask, 'Aakhir kya chahte ho?' (What do you truly desire?), then the work has served its purpose. I am always open to collaborating with organizations, publications, and passionate individuals who want to use visual storytelling to amplify the voice of nature.
