A collection of moments captured in nature, from the quiet patience of bird spotting to the vast silence of the Himalayas. These images represent the stories I find when I am out with my camera.

A peacock takes flight at dusk, its wings catching the last rays of sun. Capturing this moment of grace against the fading light required both patience and perfect timing, showcasing the powerful beauty of India's national bird in motion.

I captured this intimate portrait of a Blackbuck in Rajasthan, its intelligent gaze connecting directly with the viewer. The detailed shot highlights the magnificent spiral horns and the alert, gentle nature of this graceful antelope.

A macro photograph revealing a world of activity on a sunflower. This shot focuses on the intricate details of two bees gathering pollen, demonstrating my passion for capturing the small, often overlooked moments of diligence in nature.

The vast, high-altitude desert of Spiti Valley unfolds under a brilliant blue sky. This landscape shot captures the winding river and snow-capped Himalayan peaks, reflecting the scale and raw beauty of my expeditions into remote India.

A quiet, introspective moment with a Blue-eared Kingfisher as it preens its vibrant feathers. The soft focus and gentle posture reflect the peaceful, meditative side of wildlife photography that I strive to capture.

A lone bird glides across water that has turned to liquid gold at sunset in Jim Corbett. This silhouette captures the serene and poetic atmosphere of the golden hour, a time of day I frequently chase for its magical light.

In the deep green forests of Jim Corbett, I found this pair of Langurs sharing a moment of social grooming. This image tells a story of connection and community in the animal kingdom, a central theme in my work.

A detailed astrophotography shot of the moon, taken from the clear skies of Jim Corbett. I aimed to capture the sharp contrast of the craters and seas against the blackness of space, showcasing another facet of my landscape work.

About Featured

When I am out with my Canon 80D, it is rarely just about getting the shot. It is about fieldcraft. Whether I am waiting for hours in the thickets of Jim Corbett to catch a langur pair grooming or timing a shutter release for a peacock in flight, the goal is to capture the subject as it truly exists. If you are looking to learn this, my field mentorship sessions at biodiversity parks in the NCR are practical and hands-on, focusing on manual mode and composition with the gear you already own.

Nature photography is an exercise in patience and proximity. My work is not just about the final image but the hours spent in the field understanding animal behavior. In this gallery, you will see the results of various expeditions, from the high-altitude deserts of Spiti to the dense forests of Jim Corbett.

My Approach to Fieldwork

I specialize in different disciplines within nature photography:

  • Macro Photography: This is where I focus on the small details. I use a macro setup to capture insects and flora, revealing patterns on butterfly wings or the mechanics of a bee on a sunflower that often go unnoticed.
  • Birding: Capturing birds requires a deep understanding of their habits. Whether it is a Kingfisher or a Grey Francolin, I aim for authentic behavior rather than posed shots.
  • Landscape Photography: I chase the golden hour. The light during sunrise and sunset adds a specific mood to the mountains and water bodies I photograph.

Learn with Me

If you are interested in wildlife photography, I offer 1-on-1 field mentorships and photo walks in major NCR biodiversity hubs like Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Aravali Biodiversity Park. These are not classroom lectures. We spend 4 hours in the field covering:

  1. Camera Mastery: Learning how to use Manual Mode on your DSLR or Pro Mode on your smartphone.
  2. Fieldcraft: How to spot birds and insects that are typically missed by the untrained eye.
  3. Composition: Using framing, rule of thirds, and bokeh to make your subjects stand out.

Each session ends with a 30-minute review on-site to help you improve your technique instantly.

I am Santosh. Gurugram is where I live, but I spend my time chasing stories in the wild, whether that is the cold valleys of Spiti or a quiet local park. I use my camera to tell stories about the nature that most people walk past without noticing.
