Photography Workshops for Beginners: Get Off Auto Mode
Stop struggling with your camera settings and start actually shooting. These hands-on workshops are designed to help you master your DSLR in a fun, non-judgmental environment.
This is the hero image for my Portrait Photography workshop. It captures the natural, relaxed feel I encourage in my sessions. We focus on learning to take authentic portraits like this one by understanding light and connecting with your subject.
Here are the key details for the portrait workshop. I make sure we cover practical skills, like how to shoot in natural light and, just as importantly, how to guide someone to get a great, unposed shot. It’s all hands-on learning.
This is the main visual for my general beginner photography workshop. If you're feeling a bit lost with your camera, this is the perfect place to start. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and creative.
This note explains my teaching approach. My workshops are designed to give you practical experience so you can finally get off 'Auto' mode. We keep theory short and focus on clicking, so you can master your DSLR with confidence.
About Featured
The most important thing to know is that we skip the heavy theory and jump straight into the practical side. You will bring your own DSLR, and we will spend the session mastering the exposure triangle and natural light shooting in a small, supportive group where no question is too basic.
Why Most People Avoid Manual Mode
Cameras are intimidating. You likely have a good piece of gear, but it stays stuck in 'Auto' because the manual settings feel like a foreign language. That is exactly why I started these sessions. Photography should be about capturing the moment, not fighting with your camera's menu.
What You Will Learn
In these workshops, we demystify the camera. We cover the core exposure triangle—shutter speed, aperture, and ISO—so you finally understand what happens when you press that button. If you are interested in portraiture, we also dive into natural light, showing you how to find the right light and guide a subject for those authentic, unposed shots you see in my gallery.
The Vibe
This isn't a rigid classroom. It is a space to make mistakes, experiment, and play. Because I keep the groups small, you get actual one-on-one time to figure out the specific dials and buttons on your Canon, Nikon, or Sony body. Just bring your camera and show up ready to experiment. We believe in getting messy and having fun, because that is how you actually learn.
