Stories Told in Sand
Using just light and sand, I craft moving stories projected live for your audience. It is a poetic, visual way to share a brand history or a couple's journey.
Here I am performing my sand art at a glorious meet in Guwahati. The story unfolds on the light table, projected onto a large screen for everyone to see.
Wishing everyone Eid Mubarak with a special sand art creation. I love celebrating all festivals and cultures through my art.

A sand art tribute to Lord Shiva for Mahashivratri. The flowing sand is the perfect medium to capture his divine and mystical energy.
The audience watches as I create a story with sand. The dark auditorium and glowing screen make for a very dramatic and immersive experience.
A sand art tribute to Mohun Bagan, one of the most beloved football clubs. I can create custom stories for any theme or occasion.
Remembering the father of Assamese culture, Srimanta Sankardev, on his Tirubhav Tithi. Sand art is a beautiful way to pay homage to our great cultural icons.
About Stories in Sand
To pull off a sand art show, the setup is just as important as the performance. You need to ensure the event space can be dimmed, and a clear LED screen or projector of at least 8x6 feet is available to display the artwork. If you have a specific timeline or story you want to share, tell me in advance so I can storyboard the sequence to fit your event perfectly.
Sand art is not just about moving your hands; it is about capturing a moment and letting it flow into the next. Whether you are hosting a corporate event and want to show the history of your brand, or planning a wedding and want to share a love story, sand art provides a bridge that keeps the audience watching.
How We Work Together
Before the event, we spend time on the storyboarding. I need to understand what you want to communicate. Are we telling a journey of 20 years, or the story of how two people met? Once we have the narrative, I map out the transitions. Each performance is a 10 to 12-minute show, carefully timed with your choice of music or voiceover.
Technical Requirements
Because the art is created on a lightbox and projected, the atmosphere is crucial:
- Lighting: We need a dark enough environment so the light from the projection stands out.
- Equipment: I bring my specialized lightbox console and sand. You will need to arrange for a large LED screen or projector (minimum 8ft x 6ft) and ensure there is an HDMI or VGA connection from my stage area to the screen.
- Audio: A good sound system is essential for the background track, which really ties the emotion of the sand story together.
It is always a special feeling to see the room go quiet as the images appear, and then hear the applause when the story comes to life. It is something different, something people genuinely remember.
Rabin Bar
I am Rabin Bar, an artist from Assam. When I am at the sand light table, I am not just drawing, I am listening to your stories and translating them into shapes that vanish and reappear. It is simple, powerful, and always leaves a room feeling a little more connected.
