I bring my art out of the studio and into the streets, transforming public spaces and festivals into immersive, colorful experiences.

About Large-Scale Art & Community Projects

For the 75th-year celebration of the Muhuri Para Durga Puja in Jalpaiguri, I worked with the team to design a massive, traditional Assamese Japi that served as the grand entrance. It was not just about making something big; it was about bridging the gap between Assamese and Bengali culture through art, creating a space where thousands of visitors could walk through a story rather than just look at a display.

When I take on large-scale community projects, the process starts with a shared vision. For festivals like Durga Puja, I do not just paint murals; I collaborate with committees and organizers to design entire environments. Whether it is constructing giant installations from locally sourced materials or painting life-sized murals of cultural icons like Bhupen Hazarika, my goal is to make art accessible.

My approach to these projects involves:

  • Thematic Storytelling: I focus on themes that resonate with the location and the people. The Jalpaiguri project was successful because it used local motifs and traditional craftsmanship to tell a story that felt familiar to the community.
  • Material & Scale: Working on a pandal or a public wall requires different techniques than a canvas. I use materials that can withstand outdoor conditions while maintaining the vibrancy of my studio work.
  • Collaboration: I believe art at this scale is a team effort. I coordinate closely with pandal designers, structural teams, and committee heads to ensure my art fits perfectly into the overall structure.

I treat every project as an opportunity to blend my Assamese heritage with the local culture of the host venue. If you are planning a public festival, event, or community initiative, I would be happy to discuss how we can bring a unique, artistic touch to your celebration.
