I design homes that blend the warmth of rustic, nature-inspired aesthetics with the clean lines of modern architecture. These are spaces that feel like a permanent holiday escape, grounded in raw materials and designed to breathe.

A quick tour of the 'Mountain Abode', showcasing both the rugged exterior and the warm, inviting interiors. This video highlights how the design elements work together to create a cohesive holiday home feel.

A full view of the home's facade, showing the interplay of different volumes, sloped roofs, and materials. The large wooden gate provides a warm and secure entrance.

As night falls, the architectural lighting transforms the house, accentuating the texture of the stone cladding and the geometric lines of the overhangs.

The entrance is designed to be a welcoming transition from the outside in, featuring a mix of stone pavers, a small garden bed, and a protective metal-clad overhang.

This detailed shot focuses on a corner of the house, showing the precise integration of the stacked stone pillar, large windows, and the angular metal roof.

Another angle of the bay window, illustrating how the design maximizes natural light while maintaining the rustic character with stone and wood-framed windows.

This perspective shows the layered composition of the building, with its multiple rooflines and the rooftop terrace, offering a blend of enclosed and open spaces.

The home viewed from the street, nestled behind its wooden gate and surrounded by greenery, creating a private sanctuary within the city.

About Modern Rustic Homes

My process for a modern rustic home begins with analyzing the site and how natural light moves across the building throughout the day. I focus on raw textures like stacked stone and timber to create warmth, balancing these with large, clean glass surfaces to ensure the house feels like an airy retreat rather than a heavy structure. This is not about building a conventional house, but creating a space that feels alive.

When I work on a modern rustic project, I am often thinking about how to bring the peace of a holiday home into a city context. Take the 'Mountain Abode' project I designed recently. The clients wanted that specific US mountain-side aesthetic, but built for Bangalore. We achieved this by using a combination of metal-clad sloped roofs and stacked stone walls, which provide both structural integrity and a distinctive visual texture.

We avoid generic layouts. Instead, we look at the specific narrative of the site. For flooring, I prefer natural stones like limestone or sandstone because they age gracefully and bring a grounding quality to the interiors. The design includes wide overhangs to shield the living spaces from harsh sun, creating a balance between protection and openness. This is not just decoration. It is about how the light plays across a textured stone wall at dusk, or how a simple wooden gate creates a sense of privacy in a busy neighborhood.

If you value a process where we sit together to sketch layouts and discuss materials, we will likely work well together. I am hands-on, from the initial site analysis and climatology study to selecting the right finish for your exposed brickwork or flooring.

I’m Tejesh, and for me, architecture is simply an extension of how we inhabit a space. I don't believe in just filling an area with structures. I prefer working directly with you to craft a home that feels like a personal retreat, using textures and natural light to tell your story.
