Choosing between renting and stitching depends on your event plans. If you need a heavy, one-time-wear look for a wedding, renting from my collection of velvet and threadwork lehengas saves you money and closet space. If you have a specific vision or old fabric you want to reuse, bring it to my Kharghar studio and we can custom-stitch your dream outfit from scratch.
Renting vs. Custom Stitching
Many of my clients ask whether they should rent a lehenga or get one made. Both have their perks.
Renting: Ideal for wedding guests, bridesmaids, or anyone who wants a grand look for a single event without investing in a permanent wardrobe addition. My rental collection includes everything from rich velvet pieces for winter receptions to breathable, intricate threadwork lehengas for day events. Everything is dry-cleaned, checked for fit, and ready for your big day.
Custom Stitching: This is for when you want something that fits your body perfectly or if you have an idea that you cannot find in stores. I specialize in taking your fabric and turning it into a full-flared lehenga, complete with structural elements like canvas, horsehair braid for the hem, and can-can for volume.
The Design Process
When you visit my boutique, we start by looking at what you need.
- Fabric Choice: If you are stitching, bring your fabric or browse my options. I love working with velvet, satin, and net.
- Design Consultation: We decide on the cuts. Do you want a modern curved blouse? A sweetheart neckline? Or maybe detachable sleeves? We discuss what will flatter your body type.
- Fitting: I prioritize comfort. Even for heavy wedding lehengas, I ensure the internal seams are finished smoothly so you can dance and move without discomfort.
- Sustainability: My passion is sustainable fashion. If you have an old lehenga that feels dated, bring it in. We can re-stitch the blouse, update the borders, or repurpose the fabric into something entirely new.
