Traditional and Modern Mandap Decor Designs
From classic marigold setups for home poojas to grand, floral-packed mandaps for destination weddings, I design sacred spaces that feel personal and festive.
This grand mandap, set against the open sky, is one of my signature destination wedding designs. The structure features large, trumpet-like pillars topped with dense white chrysanthemums and filled with lush greenery, creating a breathtaking focal point for the ceremony.
For this traditional wedding, I designed a dome-shaped mandap with hanging garlands of marigold and jasmine. The centerpiece is a beautifully lit Ganesha idol, creating a divine and auspicious atmosphere for the ceremony on a rich red carpeted stage.

This video takes you through a grand wedding venue, starting from the floral archway entrance, down a long decorated corridor, and ending at a magnificent temple-style mandap. The decor features hanging marigold balls and intricate floral work on the pillars.

A view from inside the mandap, looking up at the ceiling decor. I used strings of red flowers radiating from a central floral chandelier, creating a stunning sunburst effect that adds drama and detail to the sacred space.
This video provides a detailed look at the same red and yellow themed mandap. It pans across the floral arrangements, the draped ceiling with its intricate flower chandelier, and the overall structure, showing the craftsmanship involved.
Here is a pastel-themed mandap fully decorated with a mix of colorful flowers. The design features hanging strings of white flowers that create a delicate curtain effect, perfect for a modern and romantic wedding ceremony.

About Sacred Mandap Designs
When we design your mandap, we focus on the structural foundation. Whether it is a dense marigold garland wrap for a traditional ceremony or full-surface floral pasting for a luxury look, I personally ensure the structure is stable and the flowers are sourced fresh on the day of your event so they stay vibrant throughout your rituals.
The mandap is the heart of your wedding ceremony, and I have been setting them up since 1990. My approach varies based on your venue and the rituals you are following.
Traditional Setups
For traditional Hindu weddings, I lean on marigold and jasmine. I use dense strings to create that classic yellow and orange canopy effect. If you prefer a South Indian aesthetic, I incorporate banana leaves and traditional pillars to keep the vibe authentic. These structures are sturdy, designed to hold up even in open-air settings where wind can be a factor.
Modern and Luxury Designs
If you are planning a modern ceremony, we can move away from traditional drapes. I often use full floral pasting—where the mandap pillars are completely concealed by hydrangeas, roses, or orchids. This creates a lush, solid look that stands out in photography. For destination weddings, I use lightweight, high-quality artificial bases mixed with fresh flowers to ensure the setup looks pristine from the first ceremony to the last.
Practical Considerations
When you book a mandap, consider the lighting and the floor. A red or white carpeted base makes the floral colors pop, while proper lighting is non-negotiable for evening ceremonies. I always bring my own team of 4-6 florists to handle installation and cleanup, so you do not have to worry about the logistics at the venue. Whether you need a 10x10ft structure for a home pooja or a grand 30ft backdrop, I handle the assembly with care.
