Behind the Lens: My Cinematic Photography Process
Photography isn't just about the final image. It's about finding the perfect light, the right silence, and the story hidden in the chaos. Here is a look at how I capture those moments.
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at my '90s Bombay' shoot. You can see me in action, directing the couple and capturing those candid, in-between moments that make the final photos feel so alive.
This reel shows the process of creating a retro-themed shoot in Bhopal. It's a collaborative effort, and you can see how we work together to bring a creative vision to life.
This is what I see: a story of lifelong companionship on a busy street. My process starts with observing the world around me and finding moments of connection that others might miss.
This is what I shoot: the detail that tells the whole story. By focusing on the clasped hands, I turn a fleeting moment into a powerful photograph about trust and togetherness.
My eye is always searching for frames within frames. This shot shows how I use the environment, like this old archway in Bhopal, to compose a more interesting and meaningful street portrait.
About Behind the Lens
Getting the perfect shot isn't about rigid posing; it’s about finding the 'frame within a frame' in natural light. When we work together, I focus on guiding you to exist in the space—whether it's a bustling street or a quiet lake—so your chemistry feels natural rather than forced. I'm looking for the honest, unscripted glances that make a photo feel like a memory, not a set-up.
How I Build a Frame
For me, a great photograph starts before the shutter clicks. My process is built around observation. Whether I am shooting a '90s Bombay-style retro portrait or a modern pre-wedding film, I look for the environment to tell part of the story. I don't just shoot the couple; I shoot the interaction between the couple and the city.
My Approach to Storytelling
- Candid First: I steer clear of awkward, stiff posing. I prefer to give you a scenario—a walk, a conversation, a quiet moment—and let the emotion unfold naturally. That is where the magic happens.
- Light and Texture: I use Sony gear and prime lenses to create that soft, cinematic background blur. I love shooting during the Golden Hour to get that nostalgic, warm tone.
- The 'Bhopal' Influence: Having grown up in Bhopal, I have a habit of finding beauty in old architecture, narrow lanes, and the silence of the lakeside. I bring this eye for heritage and detail to every shoot, no matter the city.
Gear Matters, But Vision Comes First
While I rely on my Sony ZV-E1 and drones to get the technical shot, the gear is secondary. My goal is to capture the 'vibe.' If you see a photo of mine where the couple looks completely lost in each other, that is because they were—they were just ignoring me and the camera entirely. If you want a shoot that feels like a classic film rather than a catalog, let’s talk about your story.
