The biggest worry parents have is how to keep their toddler calm while posing with a newborn. Don't stress—I always have my trained assistant on hand to keep the baby safe, and we work at the older child's pace, letting them lead the way instead of forcing them into uncomfortable, rigid poses.
Capturing the first meeting between a newborn and their big brother or sister is pure magic. It is one of the most unpredictable, chaotic, and heartwarming parts of my job. In my Goregaon studio, I make sure the focus stays on that bond.
We never rush. If the older child needs a snack break or just wants to play with their favorite toy before they are ready to hold the baby, we wait. It is about letting them be a child, not forcing a picture-perfect pose.
I use simple, soft props like knitted baskets and neutral blankets to keep the setup timeless. My studio is temperature-controlled and sanitized, ensuring that the newborn is comfortable throughout the shoot. My assistant is always there to handle the safety side of things, keeping a steady hand on the baby so you can relax and focus on capturing those genuine, proud smiles from your older child. Whether it is a protective hand on the baby or a funny face to make the sibling laugh, these candid interactions are what make these photos real.
