High-Energy Speed Painting for Events
Art is a performance. I paint portraits in minutes, often upside down or using glitter, to build suspense and create a moment of pure magic for your audience.
A moment during my speed painting performance at Bangalore University. I'm using quick, broad strokes to build the foundation of the portrait before the final details are added.
Performing a live speed painting in front of a large, energetic crowd. The atmosphere and the audience's reactions fuel my performance as I race against time to complete the portrait.
A glimpse of my live painting performance on a beautifully lit stage. The combination of music, dance, and art creates a complete sensory experience for the audience.
In action at a Youth Parliament event, I'm fully focused on the canvas. My speed painting technique requires intense concentration to capture the likeness of the subject in just a few minutes.
Performing a live speed painting at a corporate event for Kaynes Technology. It was an honor to create a portrait of the founder, Mr. Ramesh Kannan, as part of their celebration.
An upside-down live art performance of the sage Valmiki. I start with the canvas flipped to keep the audience guessing until the very end.
Another angle of the upside-down Valmiki painting. This video shows the process of adding layers and details while the image is inverted, a technique that requires a lot of practice.
About this collection
For my upside-down speed painting or glitter reveal performances, the most important factor is the stage setup. I need a clear, well-lit space and a dedicated sound system to sync my brushstrokes with your event's music, ensuring the final reveal happens exactly at the climax of your schedule.
More Than Just a Portrait
When I am on stage, my goal is not just to finish a painting but to build anticipation. Whether it is a wedding, a corporate gala, or a college festival, I treat the stage as a canvas.
My Performance Styles
- Upside-Down Speed Painting: This is my signature act. I start with the canvas inverted, painting with high-intensity music, and only flip it in the final seconds to reveal the subject. It works perfectly for honouring a founder at a corporate event or surprising a couple at their reception.
- Glitter Reveal Magic: I use invisible adhesive to build the portrait, and the big payoff comes when I throw gold or silver glitter across the canvas. This is a dramatic, high-energy moment that guests love to film.
Logistics & Planning
I am based in Bengaluru and travel across Karnataka for events. For any of these performances, my team and I arrive 60 to 90 minutes early to handle the easel setup and sound check. I provide the canvas, high-quality acrylics, and all necessary materials. You only need to ensure the stage is stable and the lighting is focused so the artwork is visible to your guests. Since I paint on a 3ft x 4ft or 4ft x 5ft canvas, please ensure there is enough clearance on stage for me to move freely during the 6 to 10-minute set.
Shivakumar Kandikere
Namaskara, I am Shivakumar Kandikere, or just SK. For me, art is worship, and I started my journey selling small clay Ganesha idols. Today, I bring that same joy and focus to your stage, painting live to create smiles one sketch at a time.
