About Elegant Floral & Jaali Work

When I work on these jaali and floral patterns, I focus on the spacing between the lines to ensure the design does not look cluttered. It takes a steady hand and patience to get those tiny nets consistent across the palms and back of the hands, but that is what makes the design pop once the color develops. If you prefer a lighter, net-focused style over dense, filled-in designs, let me know when you book so I can adjust the pattern density to match your preference.

Why Jaali and Floral Work?

Floral vines and jaali (net) patterns offer a perfect balance of traditional and contemporary aesthetics. Many brides choose these designs because they look elegant in photographs and provide a clean, uncluttered contrast to heavier, more traditional motifs.

My Process

I treat every line as part of the overall flow. For jaali work, I calculate the grid size based on your hand size to ensure the net appears uniform, not stretched or distorted. I use organic henna mixed with essential oils, which helps achieve that rich, dark stain everyone wants, but the clarity of the pattern depends on how steady the lines are during application.

Practical Advice for Brides

  1. Booking Time: Detailed jaali work is time-consuming. For full-coverage back-hand designs, be prepared to sit for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Placement: If you are planning an engagement or wedding, consider where you want the jaali to sit. It looks best as a centerpiece on the back of the hand or as a delicate filler between larger motifs.
  3. Aftercare: Since these patterns have fine lines, keep the henna on for at least 6 to 8 hours and avoid water for the first 24 hours to ensure the stain deepens properly.

I travel across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area and am based in Ulwe. If you have a specific pattern or a photo of a style you like, share it with me when you reach out. I am happy to adapt these floral and net elements to create something unique for your event.

Hey, I am Shaif. I treat mehandi like my personal art form rather than just a job. I love getting into the details of floral vines and precise jaali nets because that is where the real character of a design shows.
