About Puppetry for a Cause
I don't just put on a show. I design puppets that tell stories which resonate far beyond the stage. Whether it is bringing a 12-foot Ravan to life for farmer awareness or using a mascot to explain electrical safety, I craft puppets that turn complex social messages into simple, relatable conversations.
Bringing a message to life requires more than just performance. When I partner with organizations like the Election Commission or the Mumbai Police, I start by understanding the core message we need to land. For the Paani Foundation's Farmer Cup, my team and I spent two months in our Mumbai studio crafting 12-foot-tall puppets representing both the struggles of farmers and the path to victory. It was not just about the size. It was about the storytelling through traditional Powada poetry. For public safety campaigns, like our work with BSES on the Suraksha Shakti mascot, I convert hand-drawn safety sketches into fully functional puppets in under 15 days. By using characters like our talking rabbit for voter awareness or an oversized cigarette for anti-tobacco drives, we ensure the audience listens because they are entertained. My process involves not just performing, but ensuring the puppet design reflects the seriousness of the issue while remaining approachable for the public. From Ghatkopar station voter drives to stadium-level performances, the goal is always the same. Make the invisible visible and the message memorable.
