About Traditional & Temple Jewelry
These temple pieces are crafted with 80-120g of clay, giving them a substantial, quality feel that holds intricate details like Goddess Lakshmi motifs or peacock carvings perfectly. Because I use a high-gloss varnish, the antique gold and silver finishes stay vibrant, making them durable enough for repeated use during festive seasons.
When I started working with terracotta, my goal was to bring the richness of traditional Indian jewellery to a material that is both kind to the planet and accessible. These temple designs, featuring motifs like Goddess Lakshmi or intricate peacocks, require careful hand-rolling and detailed relief work before the firing process.
The antique finishes are applied to mimic the aesthetic of traditional metallic jewellery, making them a versatile pairing for silk sarees, lehengas, or heavy ethnic wear. Each set includes a main pendant and matching earrings, balancing traditional heritage art with modern craftsmanship.
Whether you are looking for statement pieces for a boutique or return gifts for a wedding, these collections offer distinct options. The heavier sets are designed for strong visual impact, while the paisley, or kalka, designs offer a lighter profile for day-to-day styling. Every piece is sealed with a clear varnish to protect the acrylic paint and clay base.
Maintenance is straightforward. Keep the jewellery dry and store the pieces individually to prevent the relief work from rubbing against other items. As these are handmade from natural clay, handle the more intricate designs with care to preserve their shape and finish.
