Tribal and Boho Fabric Jewellery
Hand-painted fabric jewellery blending traditional motifs with rustic cowrie shells and ghungroos for an earthy, bohemian look.
A vibrant yellow fabric panel, hand-painted with green leaf motifs and adorned with cowrie shells, is the centerpiece of this necklace. It's layered over a traditional Kalamkari print and finished with an oxidized silver charm. This is a perfect example of my layered, mixed-media style.
This circular pendant set features a hand-painted mandala-style design, edged with small brass ghungroos that create a lovely, subtle chime. The black, white, and red color combination is classic and bold. The adjustable red cord ensures a perfect fit for this ethnic jewelry piece.
A variation of my ghungroo-embellished mandala set, this piece uses a striking green and red color scheme. The hand-painted pendant is complemented by a braided green cord and matching earrings. The brass bells add a touch of traditional charm to the design.
This statement necklace set is a perfect example of my craft. It combines hand-painted fabric in bold red and black with intricate patterns and is embellished with natural cowrie shells for a distinct tribal-boho feel. The matching earrings complete this lightweight, wearable art piece.
Featuring a beautiful leaf pattern hand-painted on a red fabric base, this set has an autumnal, earthy feel. The design covers both the rectangular pendant and the matching earrings. It's a simple yet elegant piece for anyone who loves nature-inspired accessories.
Here, I've blended traditional Kalamkari print fabric with natural cowrie shells and oxidized metal charms. The rectangular pendant creates a modern silhouette, while the materials give it an earthy, ethnic feel. The matching earrings feature ghungroo details for a subtle sound.
About Tribal & Boho Embellishments
Even though these pieces have that chunky, traditional tribal look with cowrie shells and brass ghungroos, they are surprisingly light. I build them on a stiffened mount-board base wrapped in fabric, so you can wear them all day without any neck or ear fatigue.
Many people love the look of heavy, ethnic jewellery but hate the weight that comes with metal or stone pieces. That is exactly why I started making these boho designs. By using cotton and linen fabrics over a mount-board base, I can create that bold, layered aesthetic without the physical strain.
Materials and Texture
Each set in this collection is a deliberate mix of textures. I combine traditional Kalamkari or Ikat prints with natural cowrie shells, which are essential for that classic tribal vibe. You will also find touches of oxidized silver charms and brass ghungroos that offer a soft, rhythmic chime when you move. Because I use macrame knotting and fabric-wrapped beads, every necklace has a tactile, grounded feel.
Styling Ideas
These are not just for ethnic wear. While they look fantastic with a simple cotton saree or a kurti, they work surprisingly well with western boho outfits. Pair a bib-style shell necklace with a plain white tee and jeans, or wear one of my ghungroo-adorned pieces to add character to a minimalist dress.
Practical Care
Since these are hand-painted on fabric, they need a little love to stay fresh. Keep them away from direct water or heavy perfume sprays, as moisture can affect the fabric and paint. If you need to clean them, a dry, soft cloth is sufficient. All my pieces come with adjustable dori (cords), so you can easily change the length depending on your neckline.
