My Journey: From Audit to Artistry
I didn't start with a makeup brush in hand. Back in 2019, I was working a mundane audit job at Ernst & Young, staring at spreadsheets all day. I craved creativity, and I found it in the way makeup can shift how someone feels about themselves. Taking the leap to leave my corporate life was the best decision I ever made. Now, having styled over 500 brides, I believe that makeup isn't about masking who you are; it's about amplifying your natural spark.
Why Technique Matters
Whether you are a fellow artist looking to level up or a bride-to-be trying to understand the process, transparency is everything. The 'soft glam' look isn't just about the products; it's about the prep.
- The Power of Skin Prep: I spend 30 to 45 minutes on luxury skin prep using ice globes and hydration patches before even touching a foundation brush. This is how we achieve that 'glass-skin' finish.
- Lifting vs. Young Blush: Placement is key. A lifted blush placement can sculpt the face, while a more centered 'young' application brings a fresh, innocent vitality. I love playing with both depending on the occasion.
- The Eye Base: A common mistake I see is forgetting to set the lids properly. I always use a light shade of concealer, merged and set with powder, to ensure your eyeshadow doesn't budge.
