Traditional henna art for sacred milestones like the Munj thread ceremony and Jain Diksha. I incorporate meaningful religious symbols into every custom design.

A special mehendi design for a mother celebrating her son's Munj, or thread ceremony. The palms feature a 'batu' (young Brahmin boy) and other traditional elements.

A video showing the Munj ceremony mehendi, including a picture of the happy mother and son. It's a privilege to be part of such important family rituals.

A close-up of the palms, showing the figure of the 'batu' learning and another figure representing the journey of 'Kashi Yatra'.

The startup bands on the arms, featuring traditional 'palki' or palanquin designs.

Another beautiful mehendi for a Munj ceremony. This design features a portrait of the 'batu' and the loving phrase 'Aai cha Ladka' (Mother's beloved son).

A sacred mehendi for a mother and daughter who are taking Jain Diksha, a path of renunciation. The design incorporates important Jain symbols and figures.

A video showing me with one of the 'Diksharthis'. It was a blessing to apply henna for such a profound spiritual event.

The full mehendi for both the mother and daughter, featuring coordinated designs that symbolize their shared spiritual journey.

About Special Ceremonies (Munj & Jain Diksha)

For Munj and Diksha ceremonies, the design process is different from standard bridal work. We sit down to discuss the specific religious symbols, the 'batu' motifs, or the spiritual journey you want to reflect in the henna. I make sure the paste is freshly prepared and natural, as these events often involve hours of rituals where comfort and a deep, dark stain matter for the wearer.

Designing for spiritual ceremonies requires a specific approach that differs from regular festive or bridal work. Whether it is a Munj thread ceremony or a Jain Diksha, these events are deeply personal and rooted in tradition. For Munj, I often focus on the 'batu' motifs, incorporating traditional elements like palanquins or specific phrases such as 'Aai cha Ladka' that celebrate the boy's rite of passage. For Jain Diksha, the art is more about capturing the path of renunciation and peace. I use symbols like lotus motifs, prayer hands, and other iconography that hold spiritual significance for the Diksharthi.

I am based in Dombivli, but I travel across Mumbai to be part of these important family rituals. Every design is custom-drawn based on the specific symbols you need. I do not use stencils for these; every line is freehand to ensure it honors the occasion. If you are planning a ceremony, reach out to discuss the symbols you wish to include, and we can plan a design that feels right for your family.
