Judging & Community Art Events
Being part of the creative community is the fuel for my work. Whether I am judging a sneaker customization competition or hosting an art workshop, it is all about connecting with fellow creators and keeping the local scene vibrant.
It was an honor to be invited as a judge for the 'Sole Expressions' creative arts competition. Seeing my name on the event poster was a real 'made it' moment for me.
Here I am in full focus on the judging panel. It was amazing to see the level of talent and passion from all the participants in the sneaker painting competition.
Getting a close-up look at one of the custom sneakers during the judging process. I was interpreting the artist's vision and checking out the details and execution of their design.
Celebrating with the winners of the 'Sole Expressions' competition. It's so rewarding to support and recognize up-and-coming artists in the sneaker community.
About Judging & Community Events
Judging a competition is not just about picking a winner. It is about spotting raw potential and seeing how an artist translates their vision onto a sneaker. When I am on a panel, I look for that balance between the technical precision of the paint job and the unique story being told, because that is what makes a design actually stick.
Organizing a creative event or competition? Bringing in someone from the community, like a dedicated artist who works with these materials daily, changes the entire vibe of the panel. I do not just judge on aesthetics. I look for the technical choices made during the customization process—like how a participant prepped the leather or why they chose a specific finisher for their design.
For colleges or brands looking for a judge, I bring that real world perspective. I have gone from painting in my studio to judging student competitions, and I understand the pressure of time and the need for innovation. If you want a judge who can offer constructive critique that actually helps the participants grow, rather than just giving a score, that is where I step in.
When I judge, I focus on three core pillars:
- Technical Foundation: Did they strip the factory finish? Is the layer setting consistent? A beautiful design that peels in a week is not a winner.
- Storytelling: Does the art represent the artist's unique idea, or is it a copy of an existing trend?
- Execution: The quality of the lines and the neatness of the finish work.
I am always open to connecting with the creative community across Mumbai and Pune. Whether you are planning a campus fest, a brand activation, or a community art day, reach out to discuss your event flow. Let's make it something the participants actually take value from, instead of just another checklist item.
