In partnership with the Kamal India Foundation UK, we provide underprivileged children with professional training, facilities, and the support they need to dream, play, and grow through tennis.

This image shows our courts ready for the Bhoomi Program, a shared commitment with Kamal India Foundation UK. We are proud to uplift and empower 38 underprivileged children on their tennis journey with us.

Our international coach Darja works with young talent from Assam as part of our outreach initiatives. We are dedicated to shaping the future of tennis by nurturing talent from every corner of the country.

Rohan Bopanna and Coach Simon Wheatley discuss the incredible three-month progress of kids from our outreach program. They started with zero tennis skills and are now rallying, serving, and understanding the game.

A great day of collaboration with Vayu Technology, testing athletes from our academy and the underprivileged kids from our Bhoomi Program. We believe in providing a data-driven approach to performance for every child.

About this collection

What I find most encouraging isn't just the kids' enthusiasm, but the raw data on their progress. In just three months, children who arrived having never held a racquet are now rallying, serving, and initiating footwork like split-steps. We don't dilute our coaching standards for this program; we use the same progressive systems, Vayu technology biomechanical analysis, and rigorous training schedules that we apply to our high-performance competitive athletes to ensure every child gets the best possible foundation.

How We Approach Grassroots Development

The Bhoomi Program is our way of ensuring that tennis isn't just an elite sport but a path for every talented child. We partner with the Kamal India Foundation UK to bring children from areas like Assam to our facility at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bangalore.

The Training Standard

  • Data-Driven Basics: We use Vayu Technology to test gait, balance, and agility, giving us objective markers for improvement. It helps us see where a child is struggling biomechanically, so we can fix it before bad habits set in.
  • Progressive Systems: We start with modified equipment, but the technical focus—grip, swing path, and court movement—is identical to our professional curriculum.
  • Holistic Growth: It is not just about the forehand or the backhand. We focus on the 'dance, split, recover' routine to build movement patterns that stick.

Why This Matters

Most grassroots programs focus on volume. We focus on quality. We want these kids to not just play the game, but to understand it. They eat, train, and study on campus, allowing them to focus entirely on their development without the pressures or distractions of their home environments. When you see a child who couldn't even drop a ball for a serve three months ago now competing in rallies, you realize that talent is everywhere in India—it just needs the right environment to bloom.

I’m Rohan Bopanna, and for me, the Bhoomi program is about giving kids from remote areas a real shot at something bigger. We bring these children into our academy to ensure they get the exact same coaching, facilities, and sports science support that our professional athletes rely on.
