Welcome to my swar yatra, a musical journey where performance meets the guru-shishya tradition. Explore the heart of my teaching, my student ensembles, and the depth of classical sitar.

A moment of deep connection with Raag Bageshri during a performance for the Arghya Foundation. This is the essence of what I hope to share with my students: the ability to lose yourself in the music and let the sitar speak.

This is the Ravi Chary Sitar Symphony, an ensemble of my dedicated students performing across India. Learning with me is not just about practice; it's about giving you a stage to share your music, from classical concerts to fusion events.

A full house of over 60 students and music lovers at a workshop with the legendary Padma Shri Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. I believe in bringing the masters to you, providing rare opportunities to learn directly from the greatest artists of our time.

My students performing at 'Guruvandan', our annual Guru Purnima showcase. This is a real concert experience where students get to present their hard work and feel the energy of a live audience, a core part of our guru-shishya tradition.

A glimpse into one of our group classes, where we focus on the fundamentals of Hindustani music. Here, I am guiding students through the nuances of a raga, creating a supportive environment where everyone can grow together.

Announcing my USA Spring Tour, a 'Swar Yatra' across North America with the brilliant Amit Kavthekar. My international performances and masterclasses are a way for me to share our rich musical heritage with a global audience.

A short tutorial on playing the 'Meend', a fundamental technique of pulling the string to glide between notes. My lessons focus on mastering these core skills to build a strong foundation for expressive sitar playing.

I am deeply humbled by these words from the esteemed tabla maestro Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji. He speaks about the importance of the guru-shishya parampara and the hard work my students at Swar Sanskruti Music Academy put in.

About Featured

Learning here is not about rushing through a syllabus, but about sitting on the floor in a traditional baithak style and internalizing every note. Whether you are in my Kandivali or Bandra classes, you will be expected to practice with discipline, much like we do when preparing for a concert. I focus on physical correction and deep musical understanding, which is why I keep my groups small enough for direct feedback.

My approach to teaching is deeply rooted in the guru-shishya parampara, a method that prioritizes patience and long-term growth over quick fixes. When you join my academy, you are not just a student, you are part of a community. We emphasize the core pillars of Hindustani music: sur (melody), taal (rhythm), and laya (tempo).

Why Train With Me?

  • Traditional Seating: We learn in the authentic baithak style, which keeps us grounded and connected to the instrument.
  • Performance Focus: Learning music is empty without sharing it. My students get opportunities to perform at our annual Guruvandan festival, and high-performing students can be shortlisted for the Ravi Chary Sitar Symphony.
  • Deep Technical Training: For advanced learners, we explore the intricacies of Etawah and Jafferkhani baaz, focusing on complex techniques like krintan and meend, which bring the sitar to life.
  • Access to Masters: I believe in exposure to greatness. My academy regularly hosts intensive workshops with legends like Padma Shri Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan and Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, ensuring my students learn from the very best.

Whether you are looking for group training to build a foundation or private, one-on-one sessions to master specific advanced techniques, I am here to guide your journey. Let us work together to keep this tradition alive.
