The Heart Behind the Strings: My Puppetry Philosophy
A puppet is just an object until someone gives it a voice and a story. This is the passion, the late nights, and the mission behind every show I perform.
This is the core philosophy of my work. A puppet is just an object until a puppeteer lends it a voice, a story, and a piece of their own heart.
I believe puppetry is more than just a cute show for kids. It's a transformative art form that can teach, heal, and create deep emotional connections.
Puppets provide a safe and creative outlet for children to express themselves. They help turn a child's vivid imagination into communication, which is an essential life skill.
Remember giving your toys voices when you were a kid? That's the natural instinct for puppetry. It's a secret weapon to help bring out a child's unique personality and creativity.
About The Heart Behind the Strings
I do not just show up and pull strings. I treat every event like a mission because I know kids are smart enough to tell the difference between a routine performance and genuine connection. Whether it is a 30-minute birthday slot or a 60-minute variety show, I come prepared with my own booth, sound, and a cast of characters that includes everyone from my joker puppet to a KBC-style Amitabh caricature. You just need to provide a 5x5 ft space and a plug point, and I will handle the rest.
People often think puppetry is just about cute toys, but it is a powerful tool for communication and learning. When I started in 1998, I realized that a puppet has no heart until a human lends it one. That is the soul of my work.
Kids are human beings who deserve respect and stories that speak to them. My shows in Mumbai are designed to be more than entertainment. Whether it is a festive celebration, a school event, or a birthday party, my goal is to turn a child's vivid imagination into a real, shared conversation. I bring a variety of puppets to the stage, including rod, string, and glove puppets, to keep the energy high.
I typically run two types of shows. My classic 30-minute performance is ideal for smaller parties, featuring a focus story, comedy, and a puppet dance finale. If you want a bigger experience, the 60-minute variety show includes a magic act by my Rajasthani magician puppet, Sir Uthale Singh, and an interactive KBC quiz hosted by my Amitabh Bachchan puppet.
Whatever the format, I bring everything required to set up the arena, including a portable velvet booth, PA speaker, and lighting. My only requirement is a stable 5x5 ft space with a power socket nearby. I am here to make sure that when the curtain rises, the kids are not just watching, but listening.
