About Summer Art Expeditions
During our Summer Art Expeditions, we do not just teach children how to draw; we explore cultural history through hands-on practice. Whether it is the geometric precision of African Kente cloth or the vibrant folk traditions of Mexico, students work on multi-week projects that build toward a finished portfolio. We keep batches small and age-specific, ensuring every child, from our 4-year-olds to our 15-year-old teens, gets the direct guidance needed to translate their unique ideas onto canvas.
We approach these expeditions as immersive learning experiences rather than standard summer camps. Each program is a 6-week journey where we dive into specific themes, such as Mexican folk art or African tribal patterns, integrating storytelling with technical skill building.
Our curriculum is structured to be age-appropriate:
- Ages 4 to 7: Focus on sensory play, basic color theory, and tactile projects like paper collage masks.
- Ages 7 to 10: Introduction to watercolors and composition, often using wildlife or cultural icons as our primary subjects.
- Ages 10 to 15: Deeper dives into canvas painting, architectural drawing, and mastering acrylic techniques.
Every student completes 3 to 4 finished pieces over the course, culminating in a collection of their own work. We provide all professional-grade supplies, including high-pigment paints, canvases, and specialized paper, so students just need to bring their curiosity. Located in Panchsheel Park, our studio offers a quiet, air-conditioned environment where students can focus without the distractions of typical workshop settings. Our primary goal is to help them understand the 'why' behind an artwork, fostering a genuine connection to their creative process.
