About Succulent & Cactus Corner
I use a custom-blended, well-draining soil mix for all my arrangements to prevent root rot—the most common issue for succulents in our climate. When you pick a tray garden, you are getting a complete, balanced micro-world that I have personally styled and anchored so it arrives healthy and ready for your desk.
Succulents and cacti are my absolute favorites because they are so resilient, yet each one has such a unique personality. Whether it is the geometric pattern of a Haworthia or the striking colors of a Gymnocalycium, these plants add life to any space without needing constant attention.
Why my arrangements are different
I do not just throw plants in a pot. My process starts with choosing the right substrate—a mix of cinder, grit, and perlite—that mimics the arid conditions these plants thrive in. If you buy a tray garden, I carefully select resin miniatures like Buddha figures or tiny animals to create a scene that tells a story. I also ensure the root systems are properly established and the plants are acclimated to indoor or semi-shaded environments before they ship.
Caring for your succulents
- Light: They love bright, indirect light. If you are keeping them indoors, a window sill is your best friend.
- Watering: Less is more. Wait for the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Use a dropper or a small bottle to water the soil directly, avoiding the leaves.
- Travel: I use multi-layer tissue wrapping for all shipments. Whether I am sending a single nursery pot or a large ceramic arrangement across Delhi NCR or anywhere in India, I make sure they arrive looking exactly as they do in these photos.
