Painterly Motherhood Portraits
My studio sessions are designed to look like classic paintings, capturing the quiet, unspoken bond between a mother and her child. We create timeless heirlooms, not just digital files.
This studio portrait of a mother embracing her daughter has a classic, painterly quality. Behind the serious expressions, there were so many giggles, which sometimes make for the most brilliant candid shots.
This portrait was taken as a mother and daughter prepared to say farewell to India. The studio setting allowed us to create a timeless, poignant image that honors their journey and their bond.
A storybook session can also be a beautiful setting for a mother-child portrait. Here, a mother and her toddler share a quiet moment, a scene that tells a story of love and the challenges of modern motherhood.
This classic mother-and-child portrait, with its soft lighting and gentle embrace, is inspired by the Old Masters. It’s an image designed to be an heirloom, cherished for generations.
Dressed in a traditional Kerala saree, this mother and child create a stunning, culturally rich portrait. The studio allows me to control the light to highlight the textures and emotions perfectly.
Photographing a mother and daughter with their instruments was a dream. The cello and double bass add such a unique, personal layer to their story, creating a portrait that is about their shared passion and connection.
This black and white portrait of a mother and her son is all about emotion. The studio environment helps to strip away distractions, leaving only the powerful, loving bond between them.
About this collection
When you book a session with me, we are creating a piece of art, not just taking snapshots. I do not deliver raw files or a bulk folder of images; instead, I hand-paint every portrait to ensure the lighting and textures feel like a classic painting. We will discuss your family story in detail beforehand so that on the day of the shoot, you can simply relax and be present with your child.
My studio in Whitefield is set up to move away from the traditional, bright-light photography you might be used to. Instead, I use Rembrandt-style lighting to create deep, moody portraits that focus entirely on the connection between you and your child.
The Artistic Process
Every image you receive has gone through an extensive hand-editing process. This is why I am strict about not providing raw or unedited photos. The magic happens during the edit, where I add texture overlays and adjust color tones to give the portrait that soft, painterly finish. My goal is to produce 10 to 12 finished portraits that are strong enough to hang on your wall as a permanent piece of art, rather than hundreds of files that sit forgotten on a hard drive.
What to Expect
We spend up to two hours in the studio. I have a collection of antique props like rocking horses and vintage suitcases, but the session is really about your interactions. Whether it is a quiet, meditative moment with your infant or a playful laugh with your toddler, I look for the unscripted scenes. If you have a specific family milestone or a cultural touchstone you want to include, let me know when we consult. We will build the session around that, ensuring the final portraits reflect your unique story.
Sinjita
I am Sinjita. I started out chasing sunrise landscapes, but realized my true calling was preserving the raw, quiet moments between mothers and children. I work with a painterly, vintage aesthetic to ensure your memories don't just sit on a hard drive, but live on as art.
