Traditional wear is about more than just the fabric. I capture the attitude and personality behind the look, blending grace with a modern, editorial vibe.

A beautiful outdoor portrait at dusk. The low light and backlighting create a soft glow around the subject, highlighting the elegant drape of the green and blue saree.

A classic and graceful studio portrait. The combination of a vibrant yellow and green silk saree with simple, clean lighting results in a timeless and elegant image.

Capturing a moment of pure, natural joy. The subject's bright smile is the centerpiece of this portrait, complemented by the soft elegance of her white ethnic suit.

A celebratory red carpet look. The white and gold sequined saree sparkles against the vibrant red background, creating a festive and glamorous portrait.

A vintage-inspired saree shoot. The yellow floral saree, red halter blouse, and a classic car create a nostalgic and romantic vibe, like a scene from an old movie.

A modern take on a velvet saree. The deep blue fabric and backless blouse design are highlighted with studio lighting for a look that is both traditional and bold.

An opulent and detailed ethnic look. This portrait focuses on the intricate gold embroidery of the blouse and the rich color of the lehenga, perfect for a bridal or festive shoot.

About this collection

When I shoot traditional wear, I do not look for the perfect pose. I look for the way you handle the drape and the confidence in your eyes. Whether it is a vintage-style shoot with a classic car or a sharp, moody studio session, my goal is to make the outfit look like an extension of your personality, not just a costume.

I believe in the saying, kannendare kattiyante, nageyendare hoovante. It means your eyes are like a sword and your smile is like a flower. I chase that specific mix in every ethnic shoot. My approach to saree and lehenga portraits is to strip away the clutter so we can focus on your natural expression.

My Approach to Ethnic Portraits

  • Lighting: In the studio, I use controlled lighting to create depth and contrast, which works beautifully with silk sarees and intricate embroidery. If we go outdoors, I prefer the soft, warm light of the golden hour to make the fabric glow.
  • The Vibe: We can go classic and elegant, or we can push for something experimental. If you want a bold, high-fashion look with a velvet saree, we can play with dramatic shadows and silhouettes. If you want something soft and candid, we keep the movement natural and the environment simple.
  • Styling & Retouching: You do not need to be a model to get these results. We focus on hands-on posing direction throughout the session. I handle the retouching personally, focusing on skin smoothing and color grading that preserves the texture of the fabric and your natural features.

If you have a specific family heirloom or a new outfit you want to document, bring it along. We will find the right location or background to match the mood.
