My Approach to Real Skin and Makeup Techniques
Makeup should never feel like a mask. Whether you are coming to me as a student or a bride, I focus on techniques that celebrate your unique features and respect your skin's natural texture.
I am passionate about teaching makeup for real skin, not just for models. This video shows a transformation on mature skin, proving that makeup is about enhancing, not hiding, at any age.
About My Approach: Real Skin, Real Techniques
If you have ever felt like foundation settles into your smile lines or makes your skin look dry, the issue is likely the application technique, not your skin. I focus on skin-first prep and sheer layering, which allows your natural texture to breathe while still providing that flawless, camera-ready finish.
Why 'Real Skin' Matters
In my 28 years of working with faces of all ages, I have learned that the most beautiful makeup is the kind you can barely feel. Many clients come to me worried about mature skin or uneven tones, thinking they need heavy coverage to hide what they see in the mirror. My approach is the opposite.
We start with the basics of skin analysis. Before a single drop of foundation touches your face, we look at hydration, texture, and your specific undertones. This ensures that the products we choose actually work with your skin rather than sitting on top of it.
The Techniques I Teach
My classes at my Mulund West studio are built on these exact principles. When you join my 15-day Pro Makeup course or a self-grooming workshop, you aren't just memorizing product names. You are learning:
- Strategic Layering: Using the right amount of product in the right places to avoid cakey finishes.
- Colour Theory: Correcting and concealing based on your actual skin needs, not generic trends.
- Texture Management: How to handle pores, fine lines, and acne marks without using a heavy hand.
Learning in a Supportive Space
My students call me 'Poonam didi' because I want this to be a place where you can make mistakes. If you’ve struggled to blend eyeshadow or keep your saree drape sharp, we fix it together, step-by-step. Makeup is a craft, and my goal is to give you the confidence to do it yourself, whether you are a bride prepping for your big day or someone starting a new career.
